You signed up with a casting agency. You filled in the form, you sent the photos. And now… you wait.
It's normal not to know what comes next. Many people who sign up for the first time don't understand how the process works after registration — how long it takes, how you're contacted, what happens at an audition, and what to do to increase your chances of being selected.
This guide explains everything, step by step, from the moment you register to your first project.
Step 1 — Joining the database
The first thing that happens after you send in your details is that your profile enters our database. You stay registered as long as you're available for projects.
What your profile contains
- Personal details (age, height, hair and eye colour)
- Recent photos — face and side view, no filters
- The type of casting you're available for (extras, real people, actor, dancer, etc.)
- Your availability (schedule, days off, mobility)
Important: photos matter enormously. They don't have to be professional, but they have to be clear, recent and natural. Avoid photos with filters, sunglasses or poor lighting.
Step 2 — How you're contacted for an audition
You won't be contacted immediately after registering. The agency will reach out when a project comes up that matches your profile.
How selection works
- The client (brand or production house) sends a brief with exact requirements
- The agency searches the database for matching profiles
- Selected people are contacted by phone or email
- Those available are invited to an audition
How long until you're contacted? There's no fixed deadline. It depends on how often projects come up and how often a brief matching your profile arrives. Some are contacted in the first week, others after several months.
That's why it's important to keep your profile up to date and stay reachable on the phone number you registered with.
Step 3 — What happens at an audition
An audition isn't a job interview. You don't have to prepare a speech or worry about being judged.
Usually, at an audition the following happens:
- You arrive at the location at the scheduled time
- You fill in a form with your details (if you haven't sent one already)
- You're photographed or briefly filmed — face, profile, maybe a simple gesture requested by the director
- You may be asked to do something specific: walk, smile, say a short line
- It usually takes between 10 and 30 minutes
What to wear to the casting: simple, clean clothes that show how you normally look. Don't dress up like for a gala, but don't be sloppy either. The casting director wants to see you, not your outfit.
Step 4 — Finding out the result
After the audition, the materials go to the client. The client is the one who makes the final decision — not the agency.
If you've been selected, you'll be contacted by the agency with the shoot details: date, location, schedule, what to bring.
If you weren't selected this time, your profile stays in the database and you can be proposed for future projects. It doesn't mean you're not suitable — it means that for that specific project, someone else was chosen.
Step 5 — The shoot and payment
If you've been selected and confirmed your participation, the shoot day follows.
What you need to know about the shoot
- A shoot day can last between 8 and 12 hours — be prepared for that
- You'll sign a contract before or on the day of the shoot
- The contract specifies the fee, image rights and broadcast period
- Payment is usually made 30–60 days after the shoot, according to the contract
How much you can earn
- Background extras: from 200 RON / day
- Featured extras: 500 – 1,500 RON / day
- Actors and speaking roles: variable, depending on the project and experience
How to increase your chances of being selected
Registration is the first step. But there are a few simple things you can do to be proposed more often:
- Keep your profile up to date. If your look has changed (hair, weight, age), update the photos
- Stay reachable on the phone. Castings are sometimes announced 1–2 days in advance
- Be punctual and professional at the audition. First impressions count
- Don't force it. Naturalness is the most sought-after thing. Directors want to see you, not a performed version
- Don't get discouraged if you're not selected right away. Persistence matters more than physical appearance
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to pay anything to sign up?
No. Joining our database is completely free. We don't charge anything for registration or for participating in an audition.
Can I sign up if I live outside Bucharest?
Yes. We accept registrations from all over Romania. However, most shoots take place in Bucharest, so it's important to be willing to travel if you're selected.
I have children. Can I sign them up too?
Yes. We also run auditions for children. One of the parents must be present at the audition and at the shoot. Registration is done online or at our office.
How often do new casting calls come up?
It depends on the season and market activity. In busy periods (spring, autumn) projects come up more often. Your profile stays active permanently.
Conclusion
The casting process isn't complicated. You sign up, you wait to be contacted for a matching project, you take part in the audition and, if selected, you shoot and get paid.
